Basic / translational scientists in cardiac genomic research (MD, PhD or MD/PhD)
Arkansas Children’s Hospital Research Institute in collaboration with the Department of Pediatrics, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is planning an exciting expansion of its cardiac genetics programs towards the establishment of a comprehensive center in cardiac genomics. Currently a strong nationally recognized program exists for the genetics of structural heart malformations. Further expansion of this program is desired. In addition, other planned expansions include the development of parallel programs in cardiomyopathies, connective tissue disorders, arrhythmias and vascular occlusive disorders.
Position Description: We are seeking interested scientists to join an active program in cardiac genetics. The current recruitment is targeted for basic and/or translational scientists in the field of cardiac genomics. We are seeking scientists with active research programs with potential for independent funding. All aspects of cardiac genetics would be considered. The positions are open to MD, PhD or MD/PhD candidates.
Current Environment and Resources: Current programs in cardiac genomics include a long-standing CDC funded Birth Defects Surveillance System, a Genetic Epidemiology Program, an active DNA bio-repository and large busy clinical programs in pediatric cardiology and clinical genetics. Other collaborators include Pharmacogenetics and Biostatistics. UAMS is a Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) program award recipient. All research programs have access to CTSA resources and network opportunities.
