Ron Barnett, M.D. | PGY-2

Name: Ronald W. Barnett Jr
Home Town: Benton, Ar
Medical School: UAMS
When I study medicine, I most enjoying learning about: the pathophysiology of diseases.
Things that make me me are: I'm the oldest child of 3.  My mother is a cook & father is disabled.  I'm the proud father of 3, with the oldest now in college.  I have been a respiratory therapist since 1988.
I'm not only a doctor, I also like to: socialize with friends & family
To get myself motivated I think of: my family and what I want to accomplish.
The hours I spend warm and cozy with a book I'm reading: nothing.  I do not read for pleasure.  If I were alone, I would sit warm and cozy with a cup hot mocha and cold slice of cheese cake, watching my fish swim.  However, at my home you're never alone, so I would just relax and chatting with family & friends.
With popcorn in hand the movie I'm watching is: Sci-Fi or adventure.  Love the classic like Dark Crystal, Labyrinth and Neverending Story.  If I want to laugh, then I watch the white trash comedy “Sordid Lives” . It is so easy to pick out many different family members in this show.
Without a DVR on my cable box I'd miss (or I'm in front of the TV so I won't miss): My Sci-Fi mini-series & Spartacus blood and sand.
On my iPod, iTouch, iPhone, iMac, iPad, etc. I listen to: nothing, because I do not have them.  However, I listen to old country to hard rock with a little blues mixed in.
When friends and family come visit me in Little Rock, I love to take them to: The Bid Dam Bridge, River market and Arkansas state parks.
I chose the UAMS Pediatrics Residency Program because it's wonderful and...: Having worked in many different hospitals over my 20 years as a respiratory therapist, I know that ACH is the best.  Here are a few of my reasons:  1) You’re always greeted with a smile 2) You feel like part of a large family 3) ACH administration is always helping its employees & staff.  Finally the main reason I chose UAMS/ACH, this is where I would take my children.   The whole institution works will together making this place of care, love and hope the best.
